Groove tubes bias probe manual

 · I failed a KT66 in my Vintage modern C. I have a supposedly matched quad of valve arts and a supposedly matched pair of Groove tubes KT66HPz. None of these tubes are matched at all, when rotated in/out with the dual bias tool inline. probably should take it to a pro. Thanx much for your reply, but my math skills leave much to be desired. Our Perfect Pair power tubes are matched as closely as anyone in the tube industry and have the most accurate, bias-free operation of any tube numbering system, including Groove Tubes. We hope you'll agree with us that it's better not to pay extra for "rebranded" tubes and that it also makes more sense to know exactly what tube you're buying.  · 2, . #4. The tool inserts a 1 Ohm resistor between the cathode of the tube and ground. Pull the tube, plug in the tool, plug in the tube. Connect your meter (set to DCV, mV scale), and power up the amp. The voltage shown is the cathode current of the tube (eg. 35mV = 35ma cathode current.).

Remove one of your power tubes and plug the probe in. Place the tube into the top of the probe. If you had to remove the amp from the chassis then make sure that you have plugged the speaker back in. You must have a speaker load on the amp when you are adjusting the bias! Turn on the meter and then turn on the amp leaving it in the standby mode. How to Measure Bias. This webpage offers two ways to calculate tube bias and plate dissipation. For amps with cathode bias resistors you can simply measure their voltage drop and use the Tube Dissipation Using Cathode Resistor Voltage Drop calculator. My recommended bias measurement method is the "Output Transformer Resistance Method."You measure the output transformer's voltage drop and. 2, . #4. Place the Groove Tubes Tube Bias Tool between the output socket and the output tube to set or measure bias using the current draw method. The tool allows bias checking, setting, and adjustment in the field or anywhere with a minimum of tools. All you need is a simple meter (sold separately) and a screwdriver.
